Dear Friends,

I'm sure you're having a busy weekend but I just wanted to send a quick note over to update you on a few things going on in our neck of the woods.

Badger State Manufacturing Bustle

Great news for the Badger State! Our pro-growth policies like reducing red tape, reforming the tax code, and promoting entrepreneurship & innovation help Wisconsin's economy grow. In fact, Wisconsin added the most manufacturing jobs of any state in the first quarter of 2018 and ranks fourth nationally in the number of private sector jobs added in March.

New Richmond Becoming A "Boomtown"

More good economic news: New Richmond Wisconsin in St. Croix County is becoming an economic "boomtown" with the help of the St. Croix River Crossing.

Here's what CBS Minneapolis had to say about the New Richmond Economic Growth:

"A big reason why is the new St. Croix River Crossing, which opened last summer, creating a direct path from the Twin Cities to western Wisconsin. According to Rob Kreibich, with the New Richmond Chamber of Commerce, the town is Wisconsin’s new hot attraction.

"'Welcome to Boomtown USA, I guess it’s the new boomtown,' he said. That’s not an exaggeration.

"The town is full of new storefronts and businesses, including a chiropractor, insurance agency and a steakhouse. There’s also an Aldi, Wal-Mart and a long list of chains, including a new 60-room hotel."

I pushed the St. Croix River Crossing project through the House because of the economic benefit it would bring to Wisconsin, and am proud to see booming growth that has resulted from that legislation.

Remember To Thank A Local Cop

When you turn on the news, our police officers are still portrayed in a negative light. That's just wrong. While we enjoy the weekend with our families or go about our day-to-day business, police officers in our community are working day and night to keep us safe. Cops like Officer Zimmerman from the Wausau Police Department deserve our praise. Be sure to thank a local cop if you see them while out and about.
