Putting Service Above Self

Jul 12, 2017E-Newsletters

Dear Friends,

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who reached out with their comments and suggestions on reforming the National Flood Insurance Program. It's an important program, but it owes taxpayers $25 billion and is in dire need of reform.

Your feedback is important on another issue: the 2017 Paul Bunyan Service Above Self Award!

Paul Bunyan was larger than life, and his legend has been important to Wisconsin's culture since the 19th century. In the spirit of Paul Bunyan, we are looking to recognize those who go above and beyond to serve others and make life better in their community. Maybe it's a coach, a teacher, a friend, a volunteer? Let us know about someone you know who is larger than life!

Last year's winner, Fong Moua from Wausau, is an incredible young man. He created a youth organization, "Help Making Our Next Generation" (H.M.O.N.G.). With his organization, he helped teach Hmong heritage to kids throughout the area! We are very proud of all of all of Fong's hard work for our community. Check out our photo together when I presented him with a wooden axe last summer!

Thank A Copy Today!

If you turn on the TV, there is hostility and violence against the police in cities all across America. This is shameful, because our local cops go to work every day in order to keep our communities safe. The next time you see a local cop in your community, take a quick moment to say thanks - they deserve to know that we have their back.

Until next week!
